Standards & Resources

Minimum standards and compliance

The Concussion Safety & Compliance Corporation (CSCC) collaborates with allied health professionals to establish and regulate minimum concussion standards for the safety of athletes in all sport. The minimum is required for all registered organizations:

  1. Organizations must strictly enforce the CSCC’s code of conduct which holds all members accountable for the proper prevention and recovery of sport related concussions including, coaches, athletes and guardians.

  2. A clear removal from sport policy must be implemented to protect athletes.

  3. Organizations must report and maintain record of all hits to the head for a minimum of 6 years from the date of injury. If the athlete is under 18 years of age, records must be kept for an additional 3 years after the athlete would have turned 18.

  4. Return to sport policy must include a gradual return to full, unrestricted play, preferably with a health professional’s oversight.

  5. Organizations must verify completion of concussion education for all coaches and athletes. Certification must include a competency test with a pass rate of 85% or higher.

  6. Organizations must provide access to concussion resources/support for parents and athletes.

Removal From Sport Requirements

The CSCC upholds strict requirements for the removal and documentation of any unintentional hit or suspected concussion.

Return To Sport Requirements

The CSCC requires each registered organization to have a clear and easy to follow procedure for an athlete’s safe return to sport.

CSCC Code of Conduct

All registered organizations, along with their members, shall be subject to and bound by the CSCC’s Code of Conduct, including any applicable procedures for disciplinary investigation and action.
